The inspection was carried out under normal operating conditions, without depressurization, shutdown, or internal access. By applying Volumetric Mode inspection, MultiPhonon enabled full assessment of the pressure vessel — including critical internal areas — while the asset remained fully operational.
The video demonstrates how MultiPhonon detects active defects, such as corrosion, wall loss, cracks, and stress-related anomalies, by analyzing phonon behavior within the material’s crystal lattice. This approach provides complete volumetric coverage, accurate defect localization, and high-confidence results without the risks associated with confined-space entry or production interruption.
Completed within a short execution time and with a small inspection team, the project highlights the efficiency, safety, and reliability of MultiPhonon for offshore pressure vessel integrity management. The results supported informed decision-making while significantly reducing downtime, cost, and operational risk.
