FPSO Piping Inspection Case Study Using MultiPhonon

This video presents a real-world FPSO piping inspection case study performed using MultiPhonon non-intrusive, in-service inspection technology.

The inspection was carried out under normal operating conditions, without shutdown, insulation removal, or disruption to production. By applying Linear Mode inspection, the MultiPhonon system enabled long-range assessment of multiple piping sections from limited access points, delivering full coverage with minimal preparation.

The video demonstrates how MultiPhonon detects active defects, including corrosion and wall loss, by analyzing phonon behavior within the material’s crystal lattice. This approach allows accurate defect localization and sizing while significantly reducing inspection time, safety exposure, and operational costs compared to conventional NDT methods.

Completed with a small team and short execution time, the project highlights the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of MultiPhonon for complex offshore assets such as FPSOs. The results were delivered rapidly, supporting informed integrity decisions without impacting operations.
